Nomad Online

Before the new year gets too old, I just wanted to thank you all for sticking around. I’ve really appreciated your thoughtful comments and interest throughout the crazy year that was 2021.

Nomad online is in its sixth year now. It had a bit of a wobbly time towards the end of last year, but I’m hoping to kickstart it with new content this month by participating in #bloganuary.

The top 5 blog posts in 2021 were:

• A Walk To Remember — where my family and I spent the day walking the streets of London where great Christian men and women went before us. It was picked up by Eternity News (an Australian Christian news site) and published there.
• A London Walk on My Day Off — where I just took the day to roam the city and people watch from Covent Garden to Regent Street.
• When Love Changes Everything — God’s amazing love for us can make me ugly cry sometimes.
• On Hope — I wrote this in response to the fantastic interview on Rust Belt Girl with author Eliese Colette Goldbach. Go read Rebecca’s interview because Goldbach had things to say.
• Springtime and Sunshine — Funny how quickly we adapt to change. We moved house last spring. It felt like a new adventure back then. Now the new apartment feels like home.

During 2021, almost 6,000 of you came to this little part of the internet leaving about 5,000 likes and 1,000 or so comments. It was lovely to see you all. It was encouraging in a rather tiring year.

At the moment London is full of Omicron cases. The hospitals aren’t overrun yet, but there is talk of another lockdown. I think it’s just speculation at this point. I haven’t heard anything official.

People are just living their lives. Keeping calm and carrying on. Hoping the vaccination roll out will keep many of us safe as possible.

Could 2022 be the year we finally defeat this disease? I hope so.

I can’t wait to catch the Eurostar to Paris. I’ve wanted to visit that city for years, but we’ve yet to get there. I’d also love to see Portugal and Croatia. As well as a gazillion other places in Europe. But travel seem fraught with complications and extra expenses from ever changing COVID restrictions.

But maybe 2022 is the year all that changes? We’ll see!

It’s rather cold tonight. I’ve been wearing a scarf and beanie all day to keep warm. My phone’s been warning me it might snow on Thursday. It’s so rare in London that I am strangely looking forward to it.

Anyway, before I ramble on and bore you further, I wish you a rich and rewarding new year. May 2022 be full of big and small kindnesses. May this be a year of new friendships and experiences. I hope we, amidst the disappointments and difficulties life can throw our way, see and take comfort in God’s goodness.
