Love them to bits. They can express things quickly in ways words can’t.
😁 is my favourite. But there is also 🥰 and 🥳 and 👍.
And let’s not forget these 🙌 and 👏.
We used to have quite a capable foreign minister back in Australia with a flair for emoji use. Although it did raise some questions.
I did some googling to find out the history of emojis. Looks like they were created in 1999 by Shigetaka Kurita for the Japanese market.
Their first iteration was very simple. Only 12 pixels by 12 pixels. But their popularity grew rapidly.
By 2007, they were in the first iPhone. And thanks to Unicode, they now flex across other platforms.
Now that’s something to 😁 about, right?
For #bloganuary. What emoji(s) do you like to use?

Thanks, I didn’t know the history! Japanese visual art is so influential worldwide; manga, hello kitty, emojis. These little emoticons are so central to our daily communications.

It is! One could say they’ve changed the world… well, helped how we communicate anyway.

Yes, those little winks, grins and hearts give the flavor to our words, like spices but cuter.

My favorite emojis are hearts and of course, the puppy (which, in both cases, means love)

I love an emoji and frequently use them on my posts. It does make me laugh when people get them wrong though 😂

Ooo! I’ve done that in the past! Thought this 🤗 was yay and was enthusiastically hugging random strangers.

It is indeed! Who knew an angry emoji could be so much trouble? 😆
