We were walking around the Gothic quarter in Barcelona today and came across this shrine to Saint Eulalia.

She is the patron Saint of Barcelona.

Eulalia was a 13 year old girl. A herder of geese, living under Roman rule. She was martyred brutally for refusing to stop preaching the gospel.

The festival of Saint Eulalia is held in Barcelona for a week around her feast day, which is tomorrow. (12 February)
