Storage space. We don’t have enough in our little London basement flat.
It gives me the irrits if I think about it too much.
Especially when I see great walls full of books or big closets full of organised clothes in other people’s homes.
Envy and covetousness. They’re such joy sappers, aren’t they?
Suddenly we’re looking at all the things others have. And the many blessings we’ve got shrivels up and disappears in a puff of smoke.
So yes. The lack of storage space in our place is irritating. But today I will choose to look at the positives of living in our little flat.
It’s small. So vacuuming doesn’t take very long.
It’s small. So I always know where my son and husband are and can easily see how they’re faring.
It’s small. But it’s in a great location. We have wooded parklands called the Common around the corner. We have a space where there’s a village market most weekends. There is also easy access to public transport that can whiz us around London.
It’s small. So it’s cosy. The flat doesn’t take that much to heat either. A great blessing as energy prices soar.
There are many good things about living here – a small place that lacks storage.
I just need to stop looking at great floor to ceiling shelves filled with books and wanting them. Desperately.
I won’t reach the top shelves anyway.
I’m too short.

For Bloganuary – Day 20. What irritates you about the home you live in?

I agree with Rebecca, however much storage I have, I will fill it. Thank you for sharing.

Oh man! I felt so cramped living in London, especially moving from the US!

You’re here? I thought you were in Canada still and was contemplating where to next. Have I got my wires crossed?

I was in Canada, but I had to move back to the US in October. It was pretty quick, but it had to be done. It’s all on my blog

Haha! I was wondering about your many posts today! Yes. That’s the magic thing about storage I suppose. It’s never enough no matter how much we have!

Small means less time spent on housework. Like you see the positives and negatives. Agree, apartment living never seems to have enough storage. Thanks for sharing.

Yep! That’s the beauty of small. Especially when one finds housework challenging! 😁

Nobody’s looking at those lonely books on the top row of that gigantic bookshelf. Better small–to know that the books and clothes and people you love are near at hand!

I have never heard the expression “gives me the irrits” before but you can bet I’ll be using it from now on! 😄 Thanks for sharing.

Oh it’s an Australian thing. We shorten everything. If there’s a word, you bet we’ll try and contract it.
