I wrote about this connection to memory a couple of years ago. The scent is my favourite perfume. An excerpt of the post is below!

This old friend has been my favourite perfume for a while.
I came across it in Seoul in the 1990s. I was spending my holiday studying Korean at Seoul University at the time. A class friend was chatting to us in the break and I noticed a fresh sweetness from her.
She told me it was Issey Miyake’s new perfume when I asked her about it. It was so lovely. The perfume must have been out a few years. The internet tells me it was launched in 1992, and I think I went to study Korean when I was at University about three or four years after that.
For Bloganuary – Day 16. Do you have a memory that’s linked to a smell?

The first snow of the winter and a whiff of cigarette smoke on the wind reminds me of the fun year I had after high school–dating, learning to smoke cigarettes. A bad habit I quit not too long after, those commingled smells (yes, snow has a smell) are like freedom to me.

You’re right! Snow does have a smell! Especially soon after it covers everything. Such an awesome comment. And it makes me slightly envious. Freedom for me came much later than high school. I was always caught somewhere! It was only after I got really unwell that I slowly started to untangle myself as I recovered.

A signature scent! What would you compare it to? Floral? Citrus?

Ha! It was light and fresh. Not citrus. Not quite floral. It’s just… really nice.
