Some chocolate on your coffee, Miss?

I was at my local Italian deli.

She was a lovely young woman at the coffee machine. Huge dark eyes, deep brown skin and a generous smile.

She turned to ask how I liked my coffee and called me “Miss”!

Standing in line, I remembered my grey hair, the freckles and age spots on my skin. The fine lines that were starting to crease around my eyes.

I couldn’t help grinning.

I said no to the chocolate. But said bless you and thank you for her kindness.
